Jason R. Beckrow, DO is a leader in the areas of Hospice Care, Palliative Medicine and Supportive Oncology and he is a sought-after speaker on these topics. Dr. Beckrow began his career as a medical oncologist, training at MSU Breslin Cancer Center in Lansing, Michigan. While in medical school, Dr. Beckrow had several transformative experiences where he witnessed the significant distress cancer patients were enduring from not only the physical aspects of cancer but from the significant emotional, spiritual, social and existential challenges as well. He was drawn to the plight of patients with highly advanced disease, and he has dedicated his career to comprehensive care for all patients. Dr. Beckrow currently serves as the Medical Director for Supportive Oncology, Palliative Medicine, and Hospice Services at Karmanos Cancer Institute/McLaren Greater Lansing. Dr. Beckrow is formerly the Medical Director of Caring Circle, Corewell Health South in St. Joseph, Michigan. During his tenure as Medical Director, Caring Circle was awarded the Circle of Life Award from the American Hospital Association which celebrates innovation in end-of-life and palliative care. Dr. Beckrow also has a passion for teaching the next generation of physicians and serves as an assistant professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Beckrow is board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (FAAHPM) and the American College of Osteopathic Internists (FACOI).
Renee graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Gerontology at the University of Indianapolis. For more than 10 years, Renee has been serving Grand Rapid’s older adults in residential long-term care, specializing in dementia care and care partner support. Renee is passionate about ensuring that older adults living with dementia lead meaningful and joyful lives based on each person’s unique abilities, desires and interests. Recognizing that this is often achieved through education, Renee has been certified to facilitate several dementia training programs including Dementia Live, Certified Montessori Practitioner for Older Adults and Dementia, Lead Facilitator for Core Dementia Care and has been a Dementia Friends Michigan Champion since 2018. Renee is currently the Program Coordinator for Trillium Institute and also serves as a Board Member of The Ability Collective of Barry County. Some of her favorite things include spending time with her husband Jared and their son Griffin, trail running, reading mystery novels, cycling, dark chocolate, and traveling.
